Things to think about before buying a smart lock.

barrycadish

When buying the standard smart lock for your home, there are a few things to consider. For instance, do you want to purchase a lock that fits over your current deadbolt, or would you rather replace your door's lock setup entirely?

Do you want a smart lock that operates through Wi-Fi which drains battery quickly, Bluetooth that works in a limited range, or Z wave which requires a hub in your home?

How would you like to interact with your smart lock? Do you want to use your phone, or fingerprint, or a special knock sequence that the smart lock can recognize?

And would you like your smart lock to be connected to everything else in your home? Perhaps you'd like to pair it with Amazon's Alexa or other smart devices.

At Imperium Electronics, we like to keep things simple. We don't think you should have to replace your entire deadbolt just to use a sophisticated lock. We don't believe in relying on your phone and constant app updates to ensure a lock works properly every single time. We don't want you using biometrics or gimmicky knock sequences just to get in your front door. And we don't think a lock needs to connect to the other smart devices in your home, leaving it prone to cyber threats.

That's why we're creating the Sabrelock. It operates as a deadbolt through a key fob no larger than the one you use to unlock your car. The Sabrelock has no need for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Z wave. It doesn't want your fingerprint or a "simple scan" of your iris. And it only needs you to click one of two buttons: lock, or unlock. Of all the things to occupy your time during the day, does opening your door have to be one of them? We don't think so either.

Not all door locks are created equal.
